My Bush Tale | Cathan Moore
Born and raised in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve in the Greater Kruger region of South Africa, Cathan Moore has always considered the African bush his true home. Surrounded by a rich tapestry of wildlife, his passion for the natural world runs deep.
Cathan holds a degree in Commercial Photography from the Tshwane University of Technology, equipping him with the skills to create compelling visual narratives. As a qualified field guide with the Field Guides Association of Southern Africa (FGASA), he possesses a profound understanding of wildlife behavior and ecology.
In 2021, Cathan was honored as the youth winner of the Benjamin Mkapa African Wildlife Awards, a testament to his dedication to wildlife photography and conservation. His work has garnered international attention, with features on platforms such as Discovery, BBC, and Fox, expanding his reach and amplifying his conservation message.
Through his photography, Cathan aims to raise awareness about the threats facing wildlife and inspire others to understand the urgency of conservation. His commitment to protecting the planet for future generations drives him to engage with communities, share his knowledge, and foster a deeper connection between people and nature.
Giving back to conservation:
The Timbavati Wildlife Protection Programme’s anti-rhino poaching initiative is focused on effectively detecting and deterring incursions of poachers into the reserve.
Through rangers on foot, K-9 dogs and advanced technology, these dedicated people put their life on the line to protect our heritage. This is only possible through the support and funding of donors. Through the sale of my images, I contribute 5% of each sale to the Timbavati Anti-poaching fund.
I salute the Timbavati rangers and invite you to watch the video, “Heart of a Ranger”
